Some peoples attitudes
Today, the happenings of last night are finally settling in. I guess this is what can be called "the aftermath". There was a warehouse party last night, and it got busted, hence the place is now marked. Why? Don't know, but the bust seemed pretty organized. Plenty of cops, "evidence" and "marked bills". Some citations issued, and lots of fear instilled in people. Lots of threats about confiscating band equipment and "missing door money". I guess an upside to this is there was only one cop who was a jerk. "Oh, the last officer left off right here", " I don't care I do what I want" the cop barked. Well first off why did you ask, and second off your welcome. See I'm no spring chicken, but I guess I could be considered a young punk by a cop about 10 years older than me. By the way, I'm in my late 20's. If I respect you, why aren't you respecting me? It's not a one way street, I was taught long ago that respect does not come with age, or title, it comes with what you have done in your life and what kind of person you are. You get respect if your a RESPECTABLE person, not because you chose a certain occupation. I know that cops do get a bad rep more than any other occupation in the world, and MOST don't deserve it. MOST cops are great, I even live next door to a cop. I know MANY police officers, and from what they say, (obviously I'm not out patrolling with them) they are not unjust to people and I believe them. I think this policeman was unjust, don't ask a question and then snap at us when we answer you in a polite way. Don't get mad that after all your planning and hours of threats and "interrogation", you have to comb through your local laws to try and find some charges because there was nothing illegal going on. It's not our fault you wasted city resources for no reason and now have to answer to someone about it. No, there were no real crimes going on elsewhere during the many late hours you were harassing the people you told to stay behind. What about when someone does an annual fundraiser for the city arts programs, and fundraiser for AIDS awareness. Or how about the fundraiser for the woman's and children shelter. Almost forgot the animal shelter one. Well I guess this is how the city thanks you. I hope those people remember us when their kids can't draw during class because they ran out of funding for art supplies. Or when their pet runs away and the shelter had no room for them and they could not take it in and hold it for them to come pick it up. I personally feel good about helping support a haven for battered women and children, where they don't have to be scared of someone, probably who "does what he wants".
